LRT I just started looking into gemini and I'm curious if there are any server implementations that do url rewriting. It would be nice if I didn't have to tack .gmi onto all my urls when the protocol already sends the mime type. Something with a conf file kinda like nginx would be kinda cool

Gemini server software

I know there is #AwesomeGemini at github.com/kr1sp1n/awesome-gem, a list of a wide variety of #Gemini-related resources, including software you can use to run your own #GeminiServer, but is there also a list of servers that regard themselves as 'production-ready'?

A lot of the servers in that current list tend to consider themselves either a proof of concept, or a work-in-progress that isn't mature enough to be considered ready for production.

Any #Geminauts here that have a more curated list of Gemini servers daemons, preferably with a comparison of features?

going to move to a new vps provider today - and I might play around with setting up a matrix instance later 🖥️

sounds like mastodon handles this well - does anyone know about pleroma?

does anyone have experience with running mastodon / pleroma on a subdomain while using the main domain for your username? i.e. hosting on mastodon.example.com while using @username@example.com? I know there is the local domain vs. web domain settings in the masto conf but are there any gotchas? Any incompatibilities with other fediverse servers? Long term implications?

I've been meaning to setup a letsencrypt wildcard cert for a while and finally did it ✨ Having my cert expire was a pretty good motivator

every six months or so I remember I run a personal server and that it is almost definitely needs updating

I released my big pixel font under the Open Font License! 19k+ characters with full Hangul and good Chinese/Japanese support in addition to a hefty set of European characters.

It's meant for pixel art games to make localisation easier, but you're welcome to use it for anything you like.

Download the TTF file and view additional notes if you're curious:

In no particular order, I wanna give a huge shoutout and thanks to @FirstProgenitor, @heyheather, and @Marbles for these commissions of the lost Linux Fox mascot! (pictures are in order of credit and have alt text)

I think they came out awesome, and I'm really glad they all reached out to me!!

"Dark Lego, show me the forbidden connection techniques":

bramlambrecht.com/tmp/jamieber

a leaked PDF of a Lego internal corporate document describing "illegal" connections that must not be used in official kit-building instructions

Much has been written on the analogy between lego connections and programming language syntax; that would make this illegal connection PDF the equivalent of, like, undocumented compiler features or something.
